Bruce Wilson takes up the role of Non-Executive Director at Coeus Energy

Bruce Wilson has accepted the invitation to become a Non-Executive Director of Coeus Energy.

Hailing originally from Scotland, Bruce has over thirty years in the oil & gas industry, most recently as GM Asia-Pacific for Subsea & Pipelines Engineering with Shell International. Bruce has broad experience of the energy business, installing production platforms in the North Sea and many deepwater systems and pipelines worldwide. He has delivered projects in numerous locations including Gulf of Mexico, Kazakhstan, The Middle East, Norway, and Brazil – even building an earth dam in Africa. His project experience has taken him from conceptual engineering and project economics to construction and operational handover. He understands value chains, business performance and how to achieve quality in design, decision-making and manufacture.

Bruce has traveled the world with his wife, Terry Anne, and their three sons, living and working in numerous countries, appreciating the nuances of each culture and the richness of diversity in all its forms. A supporter for many years of environmental causes, he left Shell in 2018 to more directly focus on personal action to address the urgent challenges of climate change, firstly becoming a board member of not-for-profit organization Iron & Earth and then founding his own start-up Thor Hydrogen. He understands the complexities, the magnitude and the demanding timeline of the energy transition and, as he lives through his personal transition, has a true understanding of the aspirations and concerns that many workers in our legacy industries face. He is determined to support a just and equitable transition for all and to align himself with like-minded, action-oriented individuals.

Upon establishing Coeus Energy in the summer of 2020, the three Co-Founders identified the need to bring in experienced Non-Executive Directors to compliment the strengths which each of us bring to the company. Bruce was someone that we were familiar with as we had been in discussions with Bruce for several years prior to the formation of the company.

“it only takes one light to allow someone to fulfil their potential”

Although most of his career has been spent in the global oil and gas industry, Bruce refers to the 2020’s as his ‘decade of service’, an opportunity to give something back, to others for the good fortune he has encountered throughout his own career.

Bruce states “The energy transition has the potential to change people’s lives and the world we live in for the better. Countries which had limited hydrocarbon-based resources now have the opportunity to harness their own renewable energy sources, providing greater access to energy and economic opportunity... I am a firm believer that it might only take one light to allow someone to fulfil their potential - and the energy transition can do just that. I look forward to working with the team at Coeus Energy as we strive together to inform, inspire and enable the energy transition through our transfer of knowledge platforms”.

Shaun Minty, Training Director of Coeus Energy commented “We welcome Bruce to our Board. His global experience, knowledge of the energy market and his expertise in building long-term partnerships will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and grow Coeus Energy”.
