Training for Net Zero

Updated: Feb 15

Recent headlines highlight that governments are making preparations to support economic recovery aligned with net zero efforts. The green recovery is commonly linked with bold statements from government like Boris Johnson’s ambition to see the UK power towards being the “Saudi Arabia” of wind power, or his continuing positivity towards positioning the UK at the centre of the global hydrogen economy. The green recovery is commonly linked with bold statements from government like Boris Johnson’s ambition to see the UK power towards being the “Saudi Arabia” of wind power, or his continuing positivity towards positioning the UK at the centre of the global hydrogen economy. Businesses and boardrooms across sectors and industries are now faced with different expectations from their stakeholders regarding their strategies to deliver shareholder value but to do so in a way which ensures that their organisations are aligned with achieving Net Zero goals. In order to do so they must understand not only what challenges and opportunities the Energy Transition will bring but they also need to ensure that their teams do as well. This knowledge and understanding needs to be disseminated throughout businesses to ensure success.

So, what could an example of this training need look like? Let’s take an example from the investment community. There are many examples of project interest in renewables with new technologies and projects being developed as sectors drive to demonstrate innovation and scalability. There are many and a growing number of opportunities for the investor community within this space and there will be many teams used to dealing with traditional energy projects but diversifying their skills sets to understand new topic large scale hydrogen and offshore wind projects will be a key challenge.
